MRC Receives an AFWA 2021 Culinary Grant!

We couldn’t be more excited to be among the recipients for this year’s Culinary Grant Awards from the Austin Food and Wine Alliance. Since launching its one-of-a-kind grant program in 2012, the Alliance has given $421,500 — almost a half million dollars — to Texas culinary innovators in support of initiatives that give back to the community.

Grant funds from the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Entrepreneur Grant will allow New Leaf Agriculture to develop a line of sustainable, shelf-stable pantry goods based on the cooking traditions of refugee team members. The canned, dried, and fermented foods will reduce food waste, introduce the Central Texas market to unique foods, and increase employment opportunities for our refugee community.
